Adverbs expressing time
The following adverbs specify the timing of an action:

| appena | just | Ho appena finito di cenare. |
| ancora | still | Devo ancora finire di cenare. |
| non … ancora | not yet | Non ho ancora comprato il sacco a pelo. |
| non … più | not anymore; not any longer | Non ho più dormito in tenda dopo l’ultima volta. |
| già | already | Ho già comprato gli sci. |
The opposite of ancora is non più.
Hai ancora fame?
- Sì, ho ancora fame.
- No, non ho più fame.
The opposite of già is non … ancora.
Hai già cenato?
- Sì, ho già cenato.
- No, non ho ancora cenato.
Notice the position of these adverbs, which go between the auxiliary (essere or avere) and the past participle in the passato prossimo:
- Ho appena mangiato.
- Non ho ancora fatto i compiti.
- Sei già stato a Roma?
